Montessori Training Technology and Techniques
Technology used in this program
Although some of your student reading materials will be printed, as in books or articles, the majority of the CGMS curriculum is delivered electronically. These take the form of both videos and PDF downloads.
As a student, your distance education component will predominantly take place on our website, where we utilize a very user-friendly course management software package called Moodle. As you proceed through the program, new content areas will become available, as well as new activities such as subject matter message boards and chat rooms.
Students will also utilize voice chat software to speak with each other and instructional guides. On a periodic basis students may be required to participate in conference calls. Students and instructors are strongly encouraged, but not required, to use video conferencing tools as well.
Technical requirements
Students may be required to install software packages such as browser plugins to support Flash or programs such as Zoom. These programs will all either be free to download or otherwise covered by your Tuition.
Despite using state of the art technology to deliver our curriculum, the technical requirements made of students are not very high. In fact, most any computer made over the last few years can serve as the foundation of your educational system.
Below are the minimum requirements that student users must meet:
- High speed Internet access – 512Kb/Second download or faster
- Either: A. Gigahertz Macintosh running OS 10.4 or newer B. Gigahertz PC running Windows XP SP3 or newer
- Computer microphone and speakers
- Standard Mini-DV video camera *
- Web camera *
* video and web cameras are entirely optional for professional development courses.
Below are the recommended technical requirements:
- High speed Internet access – 768Kb/Second download or faster
- Either: A. Gigahertz Macintosh running OS 10.5 or newer B. Gigahertz PC running Windows Vista or newer
- Computer microphone and speakers *
- Standard Mini-DV video camera *
- Web camera
* video and web cameras are entirely optional for professional development courses.
CGMS is happy to make purchase recommendations upon request.
Technical Support
Although much of the learning in this program will take place over the Internet, very little technical skill will be required. If you can surf the web, then you can take this course.
CGMS does recognize that problems may arise that threaten the educational progress of students. For this reason, limited technical support will be available to each student, particularly in the area of audio and video conferencing. CGMS does not guarantee the ability to solve all technical problems a student may have, and at its discretion may refer a student to a local third party.
Due to the diversity of mini-dv video camera equipment, CGMS cannot offer any support with this technology.
If you are a current student struggling with a technical problem, write to us at support@guidedstudies.com or otherwise contact us.
