Eugenia Acuña Assistant Instructor
Eugenia is a certified Montessori Guide for children 0 to 6 years of age, and she is the founder of the Montessori Learning Center, in Costa Rica. She is an instructor for the Center of Guided Montessori Studies and holds a Masters in Psychopedagogy.
Her career in Montessori began in the year 2000. Back then, her diploma was in English education and part of the course requirement was to research pedagogical methods. With vast curiosity and emotion, Eugenia chose to research Montessori Philosophy. That is how she got to observe a Montessori classroom for 3-6 year olds, for the first time. The independence, peace and joy in the classroom was impressive. Watching a 3 year-old little girl in complete concentration and silence, working for 50 minutes bathing a baby doll, made Eugenia fall in love with the Montessori method!
During her pregnancy with her first child, she received her Montessori Early Childhood diploma. Seventeen years ago she started her own project, the Montessori Learning Center in Costa Rica, where she works with children from 4 months to 6 years of age. At the same time, Eugenia, teaches short Montessori at home courses to families and offers Professional Development courses as well.
Some time after, Eugenia became certified as a Montessori Guide for Infant Toddlers, 0- 3 years of age, and in 2020 she created the project Montessori in a Box, where she carefully prepares Montessori materials for families to use at home to support the development of their children.
