5 Week course
At CGMS, we believe that every child deserves a learning environment where they feel seen, valued, and supported. Creating Inclusive Montessori Spaces: Supporting Diverse Learners is designed to help educators cultivate truly inclusive classrooms that honor the needs of all students.
This updated course, formerly known as ‘Supporting Children with Special Needs,’ expands its focus on diversity, equity, and accessibility, offering research-based strategies to support learners with a wide range of academic, behavioral, motor, and social-emotional needs. Through engaging readings, discussions, and course videos, participants will explore practical accommodations to meet the needs of today’s diverse learners.
Rooted in Montessori philosophy, this course empowers not only early childhood educators but also elementary educators, administrators, and support staff to create environments where every child thrives. With interactive forums, shared experiences, and live sessions, participants will build a strong community of practice, reflecting on how to make Montessori education more accessible and equitable for all.
Participants will receive two manuals, one on Creating Inclusive Montessori Early Childhood Spaces and one on Creating Inclusive Montessori Elementary Spaces, which include principles and strategies to support teachers and staff working in Montessori classrooms. Each handbook outlines characteristics of children with diverse needs and offers practical strategies for supporting these children. Unique case studies provide relatable examples for educators. Participants who complete the entire 5 weeks and all assignments will be awarded a CGMS Professional Development Certificate.
