Progressing Toward Normalization from Day 1: The Inner and Outer Work of Classroom Leadership

September 5 @ 7:00 pm - September 19 @ 8:15 pm

ET $135

Guiding children smoothly and steadily toward “normalization” is a task that has multiple dimensions and requires a variety of instructional skills. Foundational to successful classroom leadership is the inner work of the guide – what Dr. Montessori termed our “spiritual preparation.” Equally important is how children experience our relationships and communications, not only with them, but also with our teaching partners and with their parents. Then we have classroom design and environment-care factors, which either promote concentration, engagement, and independence – or may not. What about the “garden” of Grace and Courtesy? Do we plant seeds of social agreements and ground rules of respect in the first few weeks of school only to permit the weeds of impulsive behavior to sprout repeatedly throughout the year? Do you find yourself spending a lot of time reminding children to put their work away and use kind words? Or do you continue to present daily these essential community behaviors, in the form of roleplaying, storytelling, team-building games, and discussions for the whole school year, right into June? Join Jonathan Wolff in this CGMS three-session Video-Plus-Live-Discussion Course, for an in-depth look at the essential elements of successful classroom leadership.

Event Information:

Join us for an exciting and innovative webinar experience! Different from our previous sessions, this webinar will be in a new three-part format! Here’s how it works:

When you register for this webinar, you will have registered for the entire 3 part series. You can then decide which, if any, live sessions you will attend and which, if any, pre-recorded sessions you will watch based on your own interest and needs.

This webinar will cover the overall topic of Classroom Leadership and Management. Each webinar will dive deeper into this through related or more specific topics.

  • Prior to each live event session, all registrants will receive a pre-recorded video covering the core content of the topic, complete with thought-provoking questions and prompts prior to the live session.
  • On the day of the live session, we’ll meet for a more intimate one-hour and 15 minute discussion and Q&A session. This allows us to delve deeper into your questions and insights. To protect your privacy and create a safe learning space, we will not be recording the live sessions. To participate in these sessions, you must attend them live.
  • You can choose to watch the pre-recorded video only or join the live follow-up discussion.

The live sessions will occur on the following dates:
