I had the good fortune to begin my career as a Montessori 3 – 6 teacher. I taught at the Children’s House level for fifteen years in both public (charter) and independent Montessori schools. I completed my doctorate in early childhood special education and am now a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. I teach early childhood courses and serve as a liaison with several area schools that host our teacher candidates. My research addresses accommodations and tired instruction for children with exceptionalities in Montessori learning environments. I am also researching interdisciplinary teaching (in non-Montessori settings) and current strengths and areas for growth in Montessori teacher education programs (in collaboration with the American Montessori Society). I am honored to support Montessori education through conference presentations, workshops, and consulting.
