Lisa Rill Secondary Level Director
I stumbled across Montessori in 1999 and it completely changed my life. That was the year that I found myself, with literally no background knowledge of Montessori–even after a degree in education, in a Secondary training program in Houston, TX. I had been hired to start a brand-new middle school program at a thriving private school in rural Maryland, and I had a lot to learn. I was quickly taken by the beauty and wisdom of the Montessori philosophy.
After that, I served as the lead teacher in a Montessori adolescent program for 19 years. I sent my five children through a Montessori program. Along the way, I mentored two Secondary teachers, served on my school’s Visionary planning boards, presented at many Educational Nights, and served on an AMS Accreditation team. I earned a Masters in Montessori Integrative Learning from Endicott College with an emphasis on Adolescent Studies.
I love this philosophy, the many adolescents I have had the honor and pleasure of guiding, and my Montessori school.
Life changes, however, and in May of 2018 I left my Montessori classroom to move to a beach town on Maryland’s Eastern shore. I was thrilled to be offered this opportunity to continue my Montessori journey with the CGMS as as the Secondary Associate Director,Practicum Coordinator, Instructional Guide, Practicum Advisor and Field Consultant. It’s a lot of hats– and I love them all! Even more, I love working with such a talented and dedicated team of Secondary trainers.
I hope that all of you will love your Montessori training and classrooms as much as I have loved mine. Please don’t hesitate to ask if there is anything you need.
